Audio quality is something which can be overlooked on a regular basis if you do not pay close attention to it. When you think about it though the audio is arguably as important as the visual experience you have when playing a game. The same can be said when listening to music on your computer or on your MP3 player. Your audio output is only as good as the headphones or speakers you have pumping out the tunes. We are taking a closer look today at the SteelSeries Siberia in-ear headset which could very well put out the best audio experience you can get at a great price!
When first hearing about this headset we were a bit skeptical mainly because of the price point that they are currently at. For an MSRP of $39.99 you are getting the total audio package with a set of headphones, as well as a separate microphone. That is not all that comes in the package though as you are also given a carrying case, an extension cord, as well as extra silicone ear sleeves so you can decide which fit the best for you.
Reading that above right there gives you an idea as to the high level of value that is already in this great package from SteelSeries. It gets better though.

We tested out these headphones using a Microsoft Zune as well as a Sony PSP, and on our laptop. The quality of audio these headphones pump out are absolutely incredible. I tested them out against my pair of Shure headphones, which cost about 3 times the price that these headphones cost, and I have to say that these sounded extremely comparable. Before testing these out I never thought any pair of headphones would come close to matching what the pair of Shure headphones could do. Sure enough though in terms of clarity, bass, blocking out background noise, every single aspect I found that when comparing them the SteelSeries headphones here were at about the same exact level!
I also tested out the included separate microphone which has a clip attached to it allowing me to clip it to my clothing which was a huge plus. The microphone was tested out for online gaming purposes as I took it online testing it out in various gaming and chat sessions. The microphone worked perfectly and those on the other end could hear the voice extremely clearly. It did a great job of picking up my voice and putting it through clearly.
