The audio experience you get while playing a game whether it be on the PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, or any other console is probably just as important as the visuals. The same can be said about your comfort level when sitting there for long gaming sessions at a time battling it out in Warhawk or Resistance. LumiSource has stepped in with the Boom Chair P32 to try and cover all of your bases.
The first thing that must be said about the Boom Chair P32 is that it is an extremely well-made product from the second that you open it up and take a look at it. It is made of a polyester air-mesh fabric which is both appealing to the eye and very comfortable as well. The chair is a rocker chair and is designed in such a way that you have the ability to fold it down when you want to get it out the way making it very convenient. When it is opened you also do not have to worry about it closing on you thanks to a very creative Velcro piece which holds the chair upright when opened.
The chair has two speakers up near where your head rests as well as vibrating motors to simulate a sub-woofer or rumble experience. There is also a holder right next to the volume controls for your MP3 player or whatever other device.
There are also very handy controls on the bottom-right side which are easily accessible by your hands.
The controls are well placed as stated right below where your right leg will rest on the chair. The controls include both one for the volume of the main speakers and one for the volume of the vibration motors. Next to the volume controls are the input and output for the audio.
Setting up the chair is extremely simple. When testing it out with an MP3 player, Nintendo DS, the PS3, and the Wii we found many different ways it could work. We used the supplied connection cable to hook our Microsoft Zune into the chair and enjoyed some music which sounded great, as did the DS with games such as the new Legend of Zelda. With the PS3 we used the optical connection we already had for the surround sound and left that hooked in. We then connected the input of the regular audio cables to the chair. This allowed us to have both a Dolby Digital audio experience as well as the chair’s audio going all at the same time. This was truly an incredible experience from an audio perspective as it completely immersed you in the sound.
