Superstars V8 Racing is the latest game from O-Games, and it's coming exclusively to download platforms, and very soon to the PlayStation Network in North America. So you won't get this game from stores, and because of this, the game will be available for just under $20 when it launches, with features you would expect from a full retail game. Superstars V8 Racing joins games such as inFAMOUS, Warhawk and Red Faction: Guerrilla, as a full games available for download on the PlayStation Network.
It might not be as feature rich as Gran Turismo 5, which is also releasing in a few weeks, but has enough content, and a very good price to entice you into playing this game first. Superstars V8 Racing is the first game based on the official license of the Superstar Series, a championship of V8 top class cars. The game boasts a total of "11 official teams, 19 official drivers, 10 hyper-realistic tracks, 12 player online multiplayer, arcade or sim style racing settings, and full-on platinum trophy support."
So what is the Superstars Series? The Superstars Championship is a touring car tournament reserved for only cars that can go over 450 horsepower. Superstars V8 Racing takes all aspects of this tournament, and puts it into a game. It's good to know then that the developers, Milestone, have experience in this field. They have worked on games such as Evolution GT, the SBK series, MotoGP 07/08, and WRC: FIA World Rally Championship.
There are a variety single player modes available including; Quick Race, Training, Race Weekend, Championship, Time Attack and Superstars License. Most of these modes are self-explanatory apart from Superstars License and Race Weekend. Superstars License is a mode similar to Gran Turismo's license mode only a little simpler as it has a set of 20 challenges. Race Weekend is a chance to experience a whole weekend of racing, giving you two 30 minute practices, a qualifying race, and an actual race.
