We recently talked about our great experience with PlayStation Vita at E3, but that isn’t all we got our hands on. Along with several games, we also got our hands on possibly the most overlooked device at the show. The Xperia Play is the “PlayStation” phone coming from Sony Ericson and Verizon. Let’s just say if you want an early glimpse of PlayStation Vita, this would be a good buy for you.
I was wondering around the show floor and came across the booth showcasing the device. It wasn’t near the massive PlayStation booths, in fact it wasn’t even in the same side of the convention center. Coming up to it you would think it was just another third party accessory company trying to get any and all attention they could. There were no lines to touch anything, and people seemed to be walking by.
Luckily I wasn’t one of those people as it was one of the more impressive things I got to play with. Xperia Play is the first officially licensed PlayStation phone and will be using the upcoming PlayStation Suite. Only certain qualified Android phones will be allowed to use the PlayStation Suit, crossing my fingers that Droid 2 is on that list! Xperia Play is the only phone that has a fully fledged controller built in, along with the touch screen.
