On top of the single-player career mode is the co-op career mode.  Here you and a friend can play through the game on any difficulty level you wish together.  You will get exclusive story cut-scenes which differ from the single-player career mode as well as alternate encore songs which give more incentive to play with a friend.

Online play has finally been added to Guitar Hero III on the PS3 and it will truly test your skills as you will be able to put your guitar skills against other players all across the PlayStation Network.

Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock

You will be able to compete in various game modes such as Face-off, Pro Face-off as well as Battle modes.  You can also play Co-Op in the online mode.  The way in which online is set up is very nicely done as you can search for specific game types as well as just hit quick match if you just want to jump into the first game available.  Online I was pleasantly surprised that the game ran absolutely spectacular.  Everything was smooth and virtually no lag was seen after playing many long nights online in Guitar Hero III.  Online is addictive and adds a great deal of longevity to the game after you plow through the career mode and accompanying songs.

Another major aspect to Guitar Hero III will be the downloadable content which will be released on the PS3 throughout the course of the game’s release.  New songs, themes, picture packs and more will be added to the game over time.  This is going to greatly enhance the experience as it is likely that many songs will be release in packs just like they were in Guitar Hero II back on the Xbox 360 last year.  Your PS3 may quickly turn into a mini iTunes as you could find yourself downloading new tunes for Guitar Hero III on a weekly basis once the updates start coming out.

Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock

Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock is pretty much the same Guitar Hero we have come to know and love over the years now.  The soundtrack is better than ever, the audio and visuals are solid on the PS3, and the game is addictive as anything else to date.  PS3 owners can finally forget their old PS2 guitar and grab a wireless PS3 guitar to rock out in Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock.

7.5
Graphics
Not the best looking game as more detail could go into the characters, arenas, and crowds. It is still a big upgrade over the PS2 version though.
8.5
Sound
A great soundtrack with 70+ songs, master recordings, and great audio clarity.
9.5
Gameplay
The same tried and true Guitar Hero controls are back once again and better than ever. The addition of the battle mode makes for great fun as doe the co-op play.
9.0
Replay Value
The 70+ songs, online mode, new battle mode, and extensive single-player and co-op career mode will have you rocking out until your fingers hurt. Do not forget the upcoming downloadable content as well!
9.5
Overall
PS3 owners can finally forget their old PS2 guitar and grab a wireless PS3 guitar to rock out in Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock.
