Who will win the console war and why?
Nobody. The console war is never-ending. First-party manufacturers might fall by the wayside, but newcomers with new machines will fill the gap, so there will never be an overall winner.
Any future unannounced products which Datel is currently working on which you may want to reveal or drop a hint about?
If I told you that, I’d have to kill you! :)
Think about it, though. What’s our biggest franchise? What product series has appeared on every gaming machine since the Commodore 64? Could the new consoles be in for a piece of the ACTION? Watch this space…
Datel has some great products on the way for the PlayStation 3. The first thing they are going to release is the Bluetooth Wireless Headset retailing for $49.99. This is just what it says as it will allow you to communicate over the console wirelessly without having to use your crummy old USB headset. It will also work with any Bluetooth enabled mobile device as well and carries a 250 hour standby charge and six hours of talk time so there will not be any need to charge this guy all that often.
The Communicator Headset has also been announced for $19.99 and is a more standard USB headset with a “comfortable, over-the-ear design and snazzy hi-tech look. With a microphone positioned near your mouth and an earpiece for crystal-clear sound, it lets you bark out your orders or taunt your opponents as you play. It connects to your PS3 via a cable, so it’s ideal if you can’t use a Bluetooth headset due to local conditions.”
The DataMax allows gamers to transfer game saves from your PlayStation 3 memory cards to the PlayStation 3 and retails for $24.99. This device will not only work with Sony 8MB cards but also higher capacity cards at 16MB, 32MB, or 64MB.
One of the more creative accessories Datel is offering is the Max Drive 160 which expands the storage space of your PlayStation 3 to 160GB, more than doubling the original 60GB capacity. This retails at $169.99. The press release read, “Just plug it into your PS3, and you’re ready to go. It’s an ideal file transfer solution too. Plug it into your PC, then drag and drop your movies, music and pictures onto your
Datel also announced the WiFi Max for $39.99 allowing users to create a wireless signal off of their existing wired connections via a USB port on their PC as well as the PowerBoard for $19.99 which is the first keyboard for the PS3. This is perfect for online gaming and saving time typing. It has a ten-foot cable as well.
As you can see from these accessories Datel is in the position to really be the top developer of videogame enhancement products for the next-generation. With these products and the new products hinted at in the interview above, we expect some amazing things from Datel for the PlayStation 3, as well as the other next-generation consoles.
