Another notable thing is that the way in which the groups are set up makes for an extremely balanced game. Each type of soldier can be defeated if enough strategy and thought are put into it. It all depends on how deep you want to get into Warhawk.

One nice feature about Warhawk is the ranks system. Once you begin to garner up some serious kills on the battlefield you will begin to move up in ranks. Think of these as like your Warhawk Gamerscore basically it shows your skill in the game and also unlocks some goodies. As you move up in the ranks new costume skins will be unlocked for your character. Another good thing about the ranks system is that it helps keep the game balanced. When you set up a server you are allows restricting certain players based on their rank. This feature keeps the game balanced.

One strange thing which Warhawk definitely could have used is some sort of tutorial mode or bot-mode. This keeps players from testing out their skills without having to jump right into an online battle. If there was a tutorial mode players could potentially learn a bit before they jump out there and get their heads blown off. The lack of bots also forces players to test out things on human opponents instead of the computer, and also restricts players from filling up massive games even if they do not have enough humans to join in. Warhawk is definitely a trial and error game as you have to continuous try and fail at things before fully figuring it all out.

The controls on the ground are hectic but extremely responsive. You will find yourself jumping in and out of tanks and trying to find turrets and such to fight off the Warhawks. Controls with movement and aiming take some time to get used to, as does the camping which takes place in almost every single game. Once you learn the ropes though you will be jumping and shooting away.

There are 7 aerial weapons in total as well as 9 ground weapons. There are also 3 vehicle types and 3 turret types found.

The weapons include the likes of sniper rifles, flame throwers, rockets, missiles, and more.

One question which is on the mind of everyone is, how hard is it to control the Warhawk with the SIXAXIS controller? The answer to that question is actually surprising as Warhawk’s aerial flying controls very well with the SIXAXIS controller. It responds to your movements very well once you get used to it. Does this mean that I prefer the SIXAXIS controls over the analog sticks? The answer to that is no due to the fact that the analog sticks still give more precise control over your air vehicle. This is my personal preference though as I know many people who live and die flying with the SIXAXIS controls and absolutely love how realistic and responsive it is.

The online community thus far is fantastic as there are clans, full stats, rankings, leaderboards, badgets given out, and solid in-game communication tools. This makes for an extremely immersive game which will have you coming back for more as long as you take the time to learn the ropes.

Warhawk may lack depth because it is a multiplayer only game. Knowing that fact going in though you can look at the one aspect of the game and understand that the developer wanted to devote all of their attention to that in order to make it the best online experience on the console. Just like the first time you played Counter-Strike or Battlefield, Warhawk will suck you in and keep you coming back for more. With its amazing visuals and audio presentation it is a true next-gen marvel for the PS3, as long as you take the time to learn the ropes. Just do not be discouraged when you’re lying face down for the first few hours… Move out soldier!

8.5
Graphics
Warhawk is a beautiful game which surely deserves the tag of being a next-gen PS3 title with amazing draw distance, attention to detail, and fast-paced combat with no slowdown.
8.5
Sound
Just like the visuals the audio presentation really sucks you in with great use of the surround channels and fantastic sound effects to make you feel like you are in the middle of a battlefield.
7.5
Gameplay
Warhawk controls great once you learn how to use it, but with no tutorial and no bots to try and learn things, many gamers may shy away due to the steep learning curve.
8.0
Replay Value
It is a multiplayer-only experience but there is enough here once you learn how to play that will keep you coming back for as long as PS3 owners are there to fill up the servers. For some reason it is addictive as heck and just does not get old.
8.2
Overall
"With its amazing visuals and audio presentation it is a true next-gen marvel for the PS3, as long as you take the time to learn the ropes."
