Hi, I'm new to the forums and thinking about taking the plunge with a PS3. I'd like to be able to use my Dell monitor and desktop speakers for output, and from the research I've done it seems possible, but I want to make sure before I plunk down $400-$500. Ideally, I'd like to do the following:

HDMI-to-DVI video output to 24" Dell monitor (DHCP compliant)
Digital optical audio output to Logitech Z-5500 speakers

Will this configuration work since the audio component of the HDMI signal is "lost" when connecting to the monitor? I'd really appreciate any feedback. Thanks!

yes, if the dell monitor is HDCP compliant.

From the research I've done so far it should be, but I'll check more thoroughly. Thanks for the response!

Your monitor needs to be HDCP compliant ... however there is always a way around that too. It's called HDFury : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IJLh7ypXhjI
