Sony Mentions Monthly PSN Fee's Again
The dreaded monthly PSN fee is brought up again, looks like its coming our way for sure.

Sony already clarified a statement from a slideshow they had earlier that mentioned the words 'new revenue stream from subscription'. In their clarification they stated that the current services or core content we enjoy on the PlayStation Network will remain free but additional services/content may become available which would require payment.

so the service that we have now will remain the same but there will be an extra service with more stuff that u can pay for?
so basically people who want more can pay more?

To me it sounds like there will be another "service" coming that is good enough to have subscribers. Im just curious, will it be server based games like Live and things like voice chat? Will sony be pushing it and slowly abandon those that play for free?

thats what I'm worried about, Sony abandoning people who play for free in favour of people who pay to play
I know I don't want it to happen but it's a good possibility

Its also happened many times before on both the Microsoft and Sony fronts, so in a way it wouldnt be surprising. It would be disapointing, but not suprising.

yeah it would be disappointing but I wouldn't be surprised even though I wouldn't be happy about it, I wouldn't be surprised.
I know I might be able to speak for a lot of people when I say this but the main reason why I bought a PS3 was because I didn't have to pay for my online like u had to do for the 360 but if they start charging for it or just start abandoning people who play for free , then I would be pretty disappointed

I don't think we will ever have to worry about the free model disappearing , it would be
a public relations nightmare.

As for a paid model, I really can't see what they could offer that would be so significant
over the free model that it would warrant a subscription fee.
