The first is Sony, they made the console. The second (I assume) made it with Sony's help (and maybe money), sort of commissioning a company to make the game, the third is completely separate from Sony, and probably has to give them money.

ohhh that explains everything see i thought all three parties were game developers, so third party is all game developers

Most good games are from small independent studios look at EA they havent made a good game for ages and yet they still sell like crazy(no idea how they do this though some advertisement ploy probably).I am very proud to say i have never bought an EA game cause they are awful.

Ea makes some good games like there tom Clancy series
it just that they have diff studios that do diff jobs
some studious do better jobs than others
(shows in their sales...)

I do see this as a problem, but Sony will probably get the point and start getting new games on the PS3
