It would make sense, the old models are getting all sorts of bundles to clear out stock. Apple does something similar every year with their laptop line.

Well if they can reduce the size of the console, it means they are reducing parts and the sizes of the chips to save on heat production and costs so hey it's a win all around. I'll stick with my "fat" model though, I like the look of it, same as the original PS2.
