The Dean of Manchester Cathedral is calling for BAFTA to pull the nomation of Resistance: Fall of Man for the PS3 for an award at the upcoming British Academy Video Game Awards.

Rev. Rogers Govender is currently urging BAFTA to pull the nomination for Resistance: Fall of Man for the PS3. The Church earlier in the year called for the game to be banned over the poor depiction of the Manchester Cathedral in the game.

He stated that "It is a disgrace that Resistance Fall of Man has been short lisited for a BAFTA."

"BAFTA should not be seen condoning such behavior unless they are saying it is acceptable for producers to walk into historic buildings and film interiors, ignoring contracts, rights and liability."

"In July there was widespread disgust at the virtual desecration of Manchester Cathedral. We asked Sony to sign up to some digital guidelines, asking them to respect our sacred places of prayer, asking them to get permission from those who are responsible for our historic buildings and to not assume that interiors are copyright free."

Sony has apologized for the depiction of Manchester Cathedral in Resistance, which is the top-selling game for the year on PS3.

The British Academy Video Game Awards will be held on October 23, 2007 at Battersea Evolution. It has been nominated in the PC World Gamers Award BAFTA category.
