We've been waiting patiently (some more than others) for PlayStation Network to come back up, and as compensation for not being able to connect to the PSN for the past few weeks, Sony have announced that they will be offering PS3 gamers 2 games from a selection of 5 to download for free when the services resumes. We have no idea what these games could be, whether they are mini-games or full titles, so this article is completely rumor, but would inFAMOUS be a good thing for Sony to offer us gamers?
inFAMOUS has been overlooked by many gamers, simply because the demo is nowhere near as good as the full game. I remember playing the demo on PSN before the game released 2 years ago, and I hated it. Yet, the full game has become one of my favorite games ever, I'd even argue that it is better than Uncharted 2 in many ways. I don't know why this is the case, maybe it's because the demo has no context, or maybe you're just too overpowered, but many people feel this way.
As long as the PSN returns in time, offering inFAMOUS might be beneficial for Sony. With the second game releasing soon (Jun 7, 2011), it could potentially give the game a fanbase of millions of users. This could lead to even more sales for the second game, but of course little to no more sales for the first game. With that said however, even though the game is 2 years old, it is unlikely that Sony will offer a full title, and whether Sucker Punch (a second party studio) would even agree!
If Sony do offer inFAMOUS as one of the options when PSN returns, I would recommend that everyone download it. It's a fantastic game, one of the best of this console generation, even though it doesn't look like it.
