Game director on the upcoming God of War: Ascension, Todd Papy, recently revealed a lot of details about the game during a live stream on the official PlayStation Blog. During the stream he mentioned that Sony Santa Monica had always hoped to try and sink their teeth into multiplayer after doing big single player games for years. When asked about what the company drew from when developing the multiplayer he said:
"Obviously we looked at our combat first, and then we started looking at fighters as well as Power Stone, you know, [because] there are kind of similar camera angles..."
Fans of the Dreamcast classic Power Stone, which was a 3D arena fighting game, have been asking Capcom for a sequel for over 10 years. With Sony Santa Monica drawing from that game, it looks like Power Stone fans' prayers have been answered in the form of God of War: Ascension.
