Alvin And The Chipmunks Go To The Movies: Funny, We Shrunk The Adults DVD Review Paramount Release: April 1, 2008
Alvin And The Chipmunks Go To The Movies: Funny, We Shrunk The Adults has been released on DVD from Paramount. The DVD feature includes three episodes from the classic series and has then playing spoofs on many big-name films.
There are three episodes included here from the classic series from Bagdasarian Productions. The episodes include "Back To Our Future," "Bigger," and "Funny, We Shrunk The Adults."
The three episodes come from the classic 1990 series on television. The first episode uses Back To The Future to kick off the episode. You meet the inventor Clyde Crashcup inventing a time machine to take the chipmunks back to 1957. They meet their original conceptions as well as David Seville, a very cool-looking moment. The boys switch places, with the future chipmunks in the past, and the 1957 chipmunks in the future playing with CDs and color TVs. This episode is a lot of fun to watch.
The next episode plays on Big. It has Alvin being sad that he isn’t old enough to take part in things, and wants to grow up. He gets his wish, only to find out that it is not all that fun after all. The Chipettes make an appearance here as well, but this episode was not all that entertaining.
The final episode plays on Honey, We Shrunk The Kids and has Alvin pretty much running the show after Simon’s modulator reduces Dave and their babysitter Zelda Miller down to virtually ants. Some of the songs are decent, but nothing unexpected.
The video and audio quality is respectable. The video is presented in 1.33:1 aspect ratio and have decent color, but lack vibrancy. The colors look a bit washed out and the overall film has some grain in it.
The audio is presented in Dolby Digital 2.0, not doing much for the chipmunks songs or anything else.
No extras to be found here.
If you are a true die-hard fan of the chipmunks, this release may not be a bad choice for you. But for the rest of us, there is just not enough content here to truly warrant a purchase.
Episodes: 7.0
Some decent material, but nothing in comparison to some of the classic chipmunk episodes.
Video: 6.8
The colors appear a bit washed out and the video definitely has grain in some spots.
Audio: 7.0
The Dolby Digital 2.0 stereo track does little for the music sequences.
Extras: 0.0
Nothing to be found.
Final Score: 6.0
