Paramount Home Entertainment
Release: April 30, 2008
The Big Gay Sketch Show returns to Logo for another season of gay, and sometimes funny skit comedy. The second season of the show certainly goes a bit more towards the edge of trying to be very different, with new characters, and more. In the end though, it isn’t much funnier than season one.
The show is back in the second season for another eight episodes presented in this DVD box set.
The second season features new characters, and improved writing over the first season. The show certainly gets more daring as to where it wants to go with the jokes. You get far raunchier content, and in turn, funnier content.
The DVD set features eight episodes and are completely uncensored.
The video transfer is very clean and presented in full-screen, just as it was in the first season’s release, while the audio is effective in stereo.
Just along with the first season, the second season features a great deal of extras on the second disc.
The extras start out with a 30-minute parody called The Big Straight Sketch SHow. This allows the cast to play off the show as if they were all heterosexual.
You also get the Julie Goldman Celesbian Interviews once again from the first season, as well as five bonus sketches added in.
Cast interviews, bloopers, and behind-the-scenes extras are included as well.
The Big Gay Sketch Show: The Complete Second Season is certainly improved over the first as the show does get funnier, but still has its ups and downs as well.
The second season of The Big Gay Sketch Show is certainly worth checking out.
Episodes: 7.0 Much improved over the first season, funnier and more daring.
Video: 6.5 Standard full-screen video, looks clear.
Audio: 7.0 A solid stereo mix, clear dialogue.
Extras: 7.5 A nice set of special features, similar to the first season.
Final Score: 7.2
