Footloose released back in 1984, a film by the name of Footloose released, starring Kevin Bacon and Lori Singer, and needless to say it took the box office by storm.

Paramount Home Entertainment has teamed up with VH1 to help promote a brand new line of DVDs called "I Love The 80s." The idea behind this set-up is to help celebrate the decade of top films throughout the 80s, starting with a batch of 5, and eventually releasing 40 classic titles in 80s retro packaging. Among the first movies to be released in this line is Footloose (I Love The 80s Edition).

Footloose released back in 1984, and immediately got people dancing and having a good time. Kevin Bacon stars as Ren, a Chicago kid in high school who ends up going to the Midwest, to a community where dancing has been outlawed.

Ren is none to pleased about his, and gets his best friend, Chris Penn, to help fight the power. He also recruits the help of the daughter of the minister who outlawed dancing, played by Lori Singer.

Basically, this is all about their right to dance when they want to, and have a good time. The story here is pretty simple, Ren wants to get through school, win the heart of a girl, and have everybody dance.

This is a very off-the-wall film, which presents a great deal of fun and enjoyment from start to finish. By the end, those songs will be stuck in your head.

The video quality for the DVD release is presented in 1.78:1 widescreen ratio, and is the seems to be the same exact transfer from the past release on DVD.

The picture quality is pretty solid, as you get some very clean and vibrant colors. It runs into a few hiccups in terms of some noticeable dirt in a few scenes, as well as things coming off a bit soft. Overall though a good looking transfer.

The audio is presented in Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Audio, as well as English 2.0 Surround.

This is a very nice audio mix, which does a great job of pumping out the catchy tunes from the film. The soundtrack comes across strong, and does a nice job of not being too loud.

In terms of extras, there is nothing hereon the actual DVD disc. There is a second disc with the release though, a four track 80s music CD. The songs featured include Lips Like Sugar, Chains of Love, Need You Tonight, and Take On me.

Footloose is a very fun film, but chances are you already own the film on DVD. With that said, there is really no reason to double dip again. If though, for some reason you don’t own it, with the low price tag this I Love The 80s edition may be worth it for you.

A very fun film with some catchy tunes. It may not be the deepest film, but it will make you smile.

Clean video quality throughout, with just some minor dirt and grain in some scenes.

A The audio mix does a great job of presenting that catchy soundtrack.

Beyond the extra included four-track music CD, there are no extras on the DVD itself.
