Sega has announced that the PlayStation 3 version of Virtua Fighter 5 has shipped out to retailers across North America giving PlayStation 3 owners a real reason to get excited as this is by far one of the highest quality games to be released on the console since its launch back in November.

Virtua Fighter 5 has already topped sales charts in and placed the PlayStation 3 back in the running by pushing consoles out the doors of retailers and into consumers’ homes.

Critics have already stated Virtua Fighter 5 to be amazing games as Electronic Gaming Monthly gave it scores of 10, 9.5, and 9.5.  Other publications have given it similar scores praising it to be the best 3D fighting game ever created hands down.

Two new characters are going to be in Virtua Fighter 5 including a Mexican wrestling champion El Blaze and Eileen who uses a Monkey Kung Fu style.

The game now also features an optional commentary feature so that you can hear play by play of your matches if you wish while you are playing giving it a more TV-like broadcast effect similar to what you would see in sports games or other WWE wrestling games.

It seems like Sony fans finally have a game to brag about as it will be a PlayStation 3 exclusive for quite some time before it makes it out on the Xbox 360 later in the year and with all of the praise it is getting it could prove to be a real system-seller in North America just as it has been doing in Japan since its release not too long ago.

I picked up my pre-ordered copy of Virtua Fighter 5 yesterday afternoon, and it is simply stunning.  It truly is the best 3D fighting game I have ever played, and I'm a big fan of all the major fighting series including Virtua Fighter, Dead Or Alive, Soul Calibur, and Tekken.

The same great gameplay and fighting system from Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution is there, but the pace and graphical detail is greatly improved.  Virtua Fighter always has had the best control scheme for a fighter, and it now sports the best visuals on the PS3 as well.

It is truly an arcade perfect port with a lot of extras thrown in.  The only thing missing is the $20,000 arcade cabinet. When you look at it that way the price of the PS3 isn't bad at all.  This game will sell systems among the Virtua Fighter faithful.  Check it out.
