New PS3 Motorstorm Patch Breaks Game

A new patch has been released for Motorstorm on the PS3 which is a download from the PSN Store.

The problem though is that it seems that the update is virtually breaking the best racer on the PS3, Motorstorm.

The patch available on the PlayStation Network Store is called the Motorstorm Time Attack patch. Reports are coming out which state that if you download the patch your game will become unbootable.

Reports are that Sony is already working on a fix and may actually be taking down the patch which is still up on the PSN store as of press time. We will have to wait and see how Sony responds and if a fix is available so that Motostorm can boot up again. You would think this is something which could have been picked up in beta testing...

There is are 2 easy fixes for this problem.

1) If you have already downloaded the Time Attack update from the PS3 store and you are now unable to load Motorstorm simply load your PS3 go to the Game option on the XMB and select Game Data Utility (NOT I repeat NOT!!! the Save Data Utility).

In the Game Data Utility you should see Motorstorm Update 1.1, Delete this by pressing triangle and choosing delete.

Now insert the Motorstorm Blu Ray and it will load, choose online and it will automatically tell you there is an update available, let it install the upade which will be patach 1.2.

Now reset your PS3 and when it loads go to the PS3 Store and download the Time Attack update, it will install automatically and when you next play Motorstorm it will all work just fine.

2) For those of you who have not yet downloaded the Time Attack update:

Insert the Motorstorm Blu Ray and it will load, choose online and it will automatically tell you there is an update available, let it install the upade which will be patach 1.2.

Now reset your PS3 and when it loads go to the PS3 Store and download the Time Attack update, it will install automatically and when you next play Motorstorm it will all work just fine.

This is a great update, it not only gives you a time attack mode it also fixes a lot of online issues. It allows players to see the race status (idle, racing etc..) in the lobby, it give a 2.5min time limit to create a race or the race starts automatically. It gives you the time trial mode along with online leader boards and downloadable ghosts, it improves the headset function.
