Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock

It has been confirmed that there will be no online play in the upcoming Guitar Hero III for the Nintendo Wii.

This is disappointing news as one of the big upgrades to the new installment in the Guitar Hero franchise was the addition of the online play.

Unfortunately though the Wii continues to lack behind in terms of getting online with many, if any 3rd party games. The only online games for the Wii so far include mainly Nintendo 1st party offerings such as Mario Strikers Charged and Pokemon.

For third party games, there is not much online outside of Madden NFL 2008.

It seems that Activison has taken the route to drop online from the Wii version and focus on the gameplay.

It was confirmed in an interview when the president and co-founder of RedOctane stated "There is online for the PS3 and Xbox 360. There won’t be online initially for the Wii, but we are working with Nintendo to see how we can get those features in."
